A naughty and seemingly endless weapon known as Pandora's Box. Hiring a new group of assassin-hunters, Zander finds himself embroiled in a deadly conspiracy that points to a high-level reconciliation of world government. The series' signature deadpan filled with wit and bad-ass attitude, The Return of the Juster Cage is quickly present in a strange place in the next five worlds, where action films lean on their superficial instincts to secure their already existential critical cache. It must be said that, for the flaws of the film, this is a particularly dumb action that can be a hell of a lot of fun to watch. The plot twists and triple-crosses, though poorly tailored from a narrative standpoint, constitutes the kind of courage the film continuously enlarges, as it races to the highest box office appeal worldwide. When the boundaries of logic and interest can no longer be pushed, Cage launches a military jet to Nosdrive so that a war of zero gravity takes place. In the same scenario, a vicious bodyguard sheet dunks a pair of high-tech gloves strong enough to scrape through metal. And they all come from the same crashing plane before they die and otherwise launch multiple characters. The Xander Cage of Return has no significance for the "top" existence, so there is no time to think about crossing it.
Vin Diesel's character, the ultimate athlete-turned-spy-turned-smirk Frauner Janser Cage, has been removed from retirement (and death?) As a new global threat presents itself. Like every good Heist movie (though it's not a Heist movie), the team at the center of XXX puts it together in a dazzling montage, and with some handy title cards (Suicide Squad!), By Ginger Cage itself. Each of these characters comes with their own set of skills, and the film does a great job of balancing the action (which is without a doubt the best thing about it), silent banners and cool, character moments. It's hard to say a movie that can ever be "good" in a traditional tiradeal sense, but it dances enough to be great in its intended way that its failures are more clearly revealed. And while the truth is that Duffy Twists has come and gone, and the series has clearly made its own position for a more glob-trotting adventure with the surviving crew, you're sitting in the hope that the series will be in more efficient hands next time. Because somehow, the XX series can find new life in a world full of growing disregard for its authority figures.
